Maruya Recipe

maruya

Maruya is a Philippine delicacy of fried bananas dipped in batter, usually served sprinkled with sugar. It is a popular streetfood just like its cousin, the turon. Some versions of maruya use kamote (sweet potato), corn, and buko (coconut meat) instead of banana. High-class restaurants serve this delicacy drizzled with syrup or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
